After
the famous Fontaine de Vaucluse immortalized by Pétrarque,
the most significant river supplied by Mont-Ventoux is the Toulourenc,
a small river who’s source is at the foot of the Aulan Castle, close
to Montbrun-les-Bains. It is 30 kilometers long, winding through
deep and wild valleys, descending down to Ouvèze having flowed
through many a picturesque site, clearly limiting the northern slope
of the Mont-Ventoux. This slope, marked out by it’s medieval villages,
dominated by the ruins of their feudal castle : Reilhanette, Savoillan,
Brantes, St-Leger-de-Ventoux, Entrechaux and Beaumont-de-Ventoux
- (all of which are assigned to the Malaucène Tourist Office).
On
the path of discovery... the chapels of Beaumont-de-Ventoux
This
excursion will allow you to discover the parish’s church as well
as its four oratorys, among which is the XIIth century Saint Sepulchre,
a listed building comprising many lapidary inscriptions as well
as stain marks.
