A unique area for its quality and diversity

Mont Ventoux, sentinel of Provence, overlooks the Comtat de Venaissin and the Pays de Sault.
It can be seen from every part of the South of France and wherever it is viewed from it appears different.
It is without doubt a lighthouse for sailors at sea and a landmark for pilots above.

From Avignon, it is like a blue giant and with each approaching step, fills the horizon.
It can be admired from Bédoin, Pernes-les-Fountains and Sault.
It is cherished by every onlooker, appearing and disappearing, imposing yet ever-varying.
From its summit to the foot of the mountain, broad indentations lacerate its gigantic sides, revealing ancient rich forests.
The peak, when visible, boasts an immaculate whiteness.

Every day, every hour, every season there is differing vegetation and light.
Dressed in a variety of greens, russet-red fleeces or a white coat, it is beautiful and noble in all its aspects.

When one reaches its summit, one comprehends the enchantment described by many a poet.
The entire "Provincia Romana" lies at one's feet with the summit of the Ventoux
as the centre of a vast open landscape, from the Mediterranean to the Alps, by way of the Rhone.

As far as the eye can see, a multitude of colours, much like a tapestry, can be admired :
comprising subtle tones, a mix of sunny and shady areas, of forests, rocks, peaks,
villages, hamlets, rivers and expanses of water.

A spectacular site not to be missed.

The cities and villages at it's base, Comtat Venaissin and the Comté de Sault form
between them a unique and varied region, the unique light of the Ventoux seemingly
different in each village.

A vast area of countryside : Market-gardeners of this rich land, mountain dwellers,
loggers, truffle and lavender farmers, hunters, wine growers of the wooded slopes;
shepherds of the stony grassland; painters struck by the magic of this region; poets
such as Marie MAURON MISTRAL or AUBANEL and others; botanists, interested in plants
and insects as was Jean Henri FABRE; mystical and excessively pious people such as
PETRARQUE, many former pagan pilgrims; monks of all religions; tourists. Such a wide
variety of people who have been and still are loyal and passionate about the Ventoux
for endless  reasons...
