This cycling trip winds around the base of the Dentelles de Montmirail range, through grandiose landscapes composed of very particular geology. Here, the vineyards and orchards are carefully tended on sloping, terraced fields. Slight uphills starting in Beaumes de Venise, but don’t be discouraged. Your efforts will be rewarded, for the road leads to charming villages. Stunning views are well worth the effort required.

Between Mont Ventoux and the Dentelles de Montmirail
This is a more challenging ride, full of the sensation of flying over vineyards and Mediterranean forests. The ride goes through typically Provencal pine stands in the Dentelles de Montmirail and winds upward to charming villages which offer different, unique panoramas of the landscapes between Mont Ventoux and the Dentelles range.

Comtat's vineyardsThe vine is the queen of this itinerary! All the communes which are crossed are not only famous for their AOC Côtes du Rhône wines and AOC Ventoux wines but also for the cultivation of vine plants. As you cycle along the paths and cross the Carpentras Canal or go along its deviatory canal on the plateau of the Garrigues between Sarrians and Vacqueyras, you will become aware of the importance of water in this region. Water has made the cultivation of other crops possible, such as strawberries, market gardens, fruit trees, etc. |
