BEDOIN The first sight you will see of the village at the foot of the southern slope of the Ventoux, whose toponymic origin means "cradle of the vine", is the walls of its imposing church. The village center is along the road at the base of the old village. Enjoy the terrace cafés under the shade of large plane trees.

BLAUVAC Picturesque village, Blauvac is perched on a hill in front of Mont Ventoux. The medieval castle built in 1552, recently restored, with its interior courtyard and round towers, is a delightful sight. |

CAROMB Among vineyards and olive tree fields, the village houses are nestled at the Ventoux foothills. Built at the foot of the Paty hills, its name originates from the quarry from where the square stones of the cities coat of arms derived. The Saint-Maurice church, built in 1333, one of the largest in the Vaucluse department. The old village has narrow streets with many vaulted passageways.

CARPENTRAS The capital of Comtat Venaissin offers a real trasure to all lovers of history and architecture. There is the Porte d'Orange, the episcopal palace, St Siffrein Cathedral, the Hotel Dieu and its superb 18th pharmacy, the Synagogue, etc.

CRILLON-LE-BRAVE Formerly fortified, Crillon-le-Brave is a delightful and picturesque village on a hill opposite the Mont Ventoux. Vestiges of XVIth century ramparts, the Gérin gate and the Porte Neuve gate.
A bronze statue of Captain Crillon le Brave welcomes you in front of the mairie.

LE BARROUX An imposing 12-century castle dominates the charming little perched village. Le Barroux has been restored with great attention to detail. Rue St Denis is dotted with majestic-looking old houses.

LE BEAUCET
This village with its troglodytic houses perched on its rock (baus in Provence means "steep rock") reminds one of a Provencal crib scene. Ancient pilgrimage to Saint-Gens. The castle can be accessed by 80 steps cut into the rock. The southern ditch is also cut into the rock.

MALAUCENE Malaucene is located at the beginning of the road to the northern Ventoux which is bordered by the Groseau spring. Due to the north-facing side of the Ventoux and the springs, Malaucène boasts a particularly pleasant climate in the summer.

MAZAN In the heart of Comtat Venaissin, at the foot of Mont Ventoux, Mazan is an authentically Provencal village. The Gallic-Romans left a number of vestiges, including 64 monolithic sarcophagi, after wich period Mazan was fortified in the Middle Ages. |

METHAMIS A nice village on the headland, at the top of which some beautiful Provencal houses can be admired surrounding the Romanesque Saint-Pierre and Saint-Paul XIIth century parish church. Panoramic view of Mont Ventoux and the Gorges de la Nesque. |

MODENE Situated at the foot of the Mont Ventoux, Modène is a small market town concentrated around its ramparts. From the road that skirts the village, you can see an immense gate built against the village church. This gate is the entrance to the old centre.

PERNES-LES-FONTAINES The Pearl of the Comtat Venaissin, Pernes-les-Fontaines has for its coat of arms a golden sun symbolising the splendor of the village, accompanied by a silver pearl which commemorates the fruitfulness and richness of its fertile soil.

SAINT-DIDIER At the foot of Monts de Vaucluse in surrounding cultivated fields, vineyards, cherry orchards producing the famous Monts de Venasque cherries, almond trees. Outside of the village, there is a trail which leads to the Oratories.

SAINT-CHRISTOL This village is regarded as a caving centre where several potholes are open and accessble, namely the remarkable chasms of Cervie, the Aven-Autran and the Trou Souffleur. The Romanesque classified historic Monument church, Notre-Dame and Saint-Christophe, was built during the XIIth century. The sanctuary is decorated with an exceptional richness, a rarity in Haute-Provence.

SAULT-EN-PROVENCE Sault, from Latin saltus - country of forests - was an important centre of prehistoric occupation. Due to the quality and beauty of its vast landscapes, Sault was elected to be listed among the twenty best French sites to be classified as "World Inheritance" by UNESCO.
